EMS

Emergency Medical Services in Lincoln County is provided by one (1) full-time station utilizing a 24/48 staffing pattern.  There are 3 shifts (A-Shift, B-Shift, and C-Shift) with each shift having an Assistant Battalion Chief.  Full-time personnel work 2 - 24 hour shifts per week.  Stations operate 24/7/365 and are located in Lincolnton (Med 1 and Med 2).
EMS is responsible for the provision of First Responder programs and Advanced Life Support (ALS) patient treatment/transport throughout the county.  When responding to emergencies involving a patient, EMS is the lead agency in coordinating rescue efforts, patient care, and subsequent transport to an appropriate medical facility.  Although the majority of transports are completed by ambulance, if weather permits and the patient acuity justifies, transport may be provided by an appropriate air medical provider (helicopter).  Lincoln County uses Air Med and Life Net based at locations in Augusta where aircraft are stationed and staffed with a pilot, paramedic, and nurse.
