Walker T. Norman was introduced to public office at the early age of 18, when he was elected to the Lincolnton City Council in 1973, while still in high school. In 1980 , he was elected to the office of the Chairman of Board of Commissioners and served for 16 years from 1981-1996. He was re-elected in 2000 and has served since 2001. |
Chairman Norman has served as a member of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia Board of Managers, and is currently chairman of the Chief Elected Officials /Workforce Development Board for the East Central Georgia Region. He is a voting member of the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council, the agency responsible for training, certification and discipline of Georgia law enforcement personnel and agencies. In addition to being an advisory member of the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, he also serves on the Lincoln County Health Board and the Lincoln County Family Connection. |
In 1997, he started his own company, Walker T. Norman, Inc., which operates Tuff Luck Cafe, Walker Norman's Gospel Music Southern Style and several other business ventures.

Chairman Norman is married to the former Carol Tankersley, a middle school language arts instructor, and they are the parents of one son, James Blanchard Norman. |
